Agriculture forms the principle occupation of the people of Nepal. A large majority of the people of our country are peasants. The peasants live mostly in villages. They are found on the hills, in the valleys and the plains. Though Nepal is a small country, the peasants of our country differ from region to region in dress, language and customs.

Most of them are illiterate.They are too much occupied with their work.They do not know what is happening in the world. They live in the midst of unclean surroundings.
